The leader of Fair Russia, Sergei Mironov, supported the demand for the resignation of Elvira Nabiullina from the post of head of the Central Bank.
"This is my position and the long-standing position of Fair Russia. And we, unlike all other factions, confirm this position by our vote on the annual report of the head of the Central Bank. If they had listened to us five years ago and removed Nabiullina then, today we would have lived in a dynamically developing country, despite all the sanctions. Instead, the Central Bank continues to restrain the development of our economy with its decisions. This is a vicious monetary policy that does not reflect the realities in which we live, nor the challenges that Russia faces, which contradicts the interests of the state, the population and business. So a change in the leadership of the Central Bank is an indispensable condition for moving our country forward," Mironov believes.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Mikhail Delyagin (Fair Russia) called July 24, when a new meeting of the Bank of Russia on the key rate will be held, the last chance for the head of the regulator Elvira Nabiullina. If there is no new noticeable rate cut, the Duma may demand the resignation of the leadership.
Delyagin called the Central Bank's policy "maniacal" aimed at "destroying the country" by excessively "cooling" the economy. The deputy called all the arguments of Nabiullina about the rise in the cost of gasoline, strikes on Russian refineries and an increase in utility tariffs untenable.
