A US-owned gas storage tanker was attacked by a drone in the Egyptian Mediterranean port of Damietta. This was stated by the company Ambrey, engaged in maritime security.
According to her, the drone hit the Energos Winter vessel, after which a fire started on it. Then the fire spread to the nearby Gaslog Salem gas carrier.
It is specified that the floating LNG storage facility (LNG) owned by the United States and operated by the American company, registered under the flag of the Marshall Islands, was hit by at least one unmanned aerial vehicle near the terminal of the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company in the port of Dumyat (Damietta), Egypt. The incident occurred during an LNG unloading operation.
The NASA FIRMS system also confirmed the presence of two thermal anomalies within the port, near the location of the vessel.
AIS data shows that this vessel was subsequently towed by two tugboats approximately 2.9 nautical miles northeast of the port, accompanied by a fire vessel.
According to Ambrey, the crew was evacuated, and the fire was subsequently brought under control.
At the time of publication, no one has claimed responsibility for what happened.
There were no reports of casualties, damage to port infrastructure or environmental pollution.
