The public statement of the Belarusian authorities about the impending terrorist attack on the territory of Poland could have been made for propaganda purposes. This was stated by the press secretary of the Polish Foreign Ministry, Matej Wevur.
According to him, the Polish Embassy has indeed received information from the Belarusian Foreign Ministry about the impending terrorist attack. At the same time, he drew attention to exactly how Minsk decided to inform Warsaw about this. According to Vevyur, the publication of such messages on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is an "unprecedented practice."
"Such warnings and such information are not posted on Internet sites. I have a strange feeling that the goals could be other than just a warning. This could have been done for propaganda purposes," the spokesman said.
Vevure added that the publication of such information on the official resource was probably designed to cause a public discussion.
"If we talk about the way of informing and talking [from Belarus], then I would advise you to treat this with far—reaching caution," he said.
At the same time, Matej Vevur assured that the country's special services take any such signals seriously.
"We take every such message seriously, the special services have taken [it into operation] and are doing this," the representative of the Polish Foreign Ministry said.
At the same time, he refused to comment on the details of the preparation by a citizen of Belarus of a terrorist attack in Poland, stressing that Warsaw is not preparing its statement in response. According to him, "we will not comment publicly or discuss topics related to terrorist threats."
Recall, on July 23, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry summoned Charge d'affaires of Poland Krzysztof Ozhanna and gave him information "regarding the preparation of a terrorist act on the territory of Poland." According to the message of the Belarusian department, the terrorist attack was prepared by a man convicted in Belarus "under a number of articles of the Criminal Code," whom the Polish authorities recently deprived of additional protection and the right to reside. The next day, the press secretary of the Minister-coordinator of the special services of Poland, Jacek Dobrzynski, said that the Polish services never ignore information about possible threats and take such reports seriously, but at this stage do not comment on what measures are being taken.
