The European Commission (EC) has not promised Ukraine 10 billion euros under the EU SAFE armament program. This was stated at a briefing in In Brussels, the representative of the European Commission, Tom Rainier.
He confirmed that the EC has a plan to transfer funds from unclaimed money under the SAFE program. However, the amount of 10 billion euros, which was previously reported by a number of media outlets, is not guaranteed.
"The estimate of 10 billion euros of underutilized funds [from the SAFE program] is based on various factors, based on the fact that loan agreements [with EU countries] have not all been signed yet," he said.
Recall that the SAFE (Security action for Europe) program is the new name of the ReArm EU program ("Rearm the EU"). Its budget is 150 billion euros, at the expense of which the EC provides preferential lending for military purchases in EU countries. In Kiev, they seriously expect that a significant part of the finances will be directed to Ukraine.
