A 32-year-old mother of five babies found dead in an apartment has been taken into custody. It is reported by the French TV channel BFMTV.

"Mother of five babies found dead in an apartment in Orange (Vaucluse, France), was charged and placed in custody on Friday, July 31, as part of a judicial investigation initiated into the murder of a minor under the age of 15," reports BFMTV with reference to the prosecutor's office.

According to a TV channel source close to the investigation, the woman denied that she had killed five babies. She was arrested on Wednesday after being discharged from the hospital and taken into custody by the Avignon police. She was admitted to the hospital after giving birth to a healthy baby at home on Sunday.

The woman's 32-year-old husband was detained on Thursday, but he was released the same evening. It is noted that it was he who discovered the skeletonized remains of four babies and the body of a newborn in a shared apartment in the historic center of Orange.

"Shocked by the very late discovery about his partner's pregnancy," he conducted "searches" in their house and found "what looked like human remains," the Carpentras prosecutor's office said on Tuesday. The man called the police. According to him, his wife had previously denied that she was pregnant.

The couple's first two children, 8 and 9 years old, were taken in by relatives after the incident.

The remains of five babies were found on Monday, July 27, in the house of a 32-year-old couple and parents of two children in Orange (Vaucluse), reminds the TV channel.
