One of the largest chains of Ukrainian supermarkets "Silpo", following the "Fora" network, placed information tables in a number of its retail facilities with a warning about supply problems.
The reason is large—scale damage to the logistics infrastructure after a massive rocket attack on Kiev and the Kiev region.
On the night of August 5, as a result of rocket fire in Kiev and the region, warehouses, logistics centers and production facilities of at least 14 large Ukrainian and international companies were destroyed and set on fire, Mercora writes. According to the source, Rozetka destroyed the distribution complex in Brovary, which processed more than 100 thousand orders per day. Rozetka co-founder Vladislav Chechetkin estimated the direct losses at "billions of hryvnia" and called them the largest in the 21 years of the company's existence.
The sorting center of Novaya Pochta in Kiev was also destroyed. The logistics facilities of Fozzy Group (Silpo) and Novus were damaged. The logistics center of the Epicenter in Kiev and its warehouses in Kalinovka burned down. Warehouses and inventories were also lost by Intertop, Puma, Liqui Moly Ukraine, Toyota Ukraine, the publication lists.
Sports retailer Puma warned that due to the loss of the warehouse in the coming weeks, and possibly months, there may be a shortage of individual goods. After the destruction of ceramic tile production, Epicenter announced the transfer of production to two plants owned by it abroad in order to avoid shortages and fulfill obligations to partners.
According to the Ukrainian version of Forbes, since the beginning of July on Ukraine has disabled over 400 thousand square meters of logistics infrastructure. According to the magazine, more than eight warehouses and logistics hubs of large Ukrainian enterprises were destroyed.
It is expected that the shortage of certain categories of goods may persist for several months until the logistics network is restored or redistributed.
