The Tagansky District Court of Moscow arrested stand-up comedian Alexander Dolgopolov in absentia as part of a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (spreading disrespect for the days of military glory or the memory of defenders of the Fatherland on the Internet). This is evidenced by the case card on the portal of the capital's courts of general jurisdiction.
Dolgopolov was sentenced to two months in prison from the moment of his extradition to Russia or detention on the territory of the country.
Earlier, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office reported that it had sent inspection materials to resolve the issue of criminal prosecution of Dolgopolov under the article on the rehabilitation of Nazism.
According to the agency, the case is connected with a video recording of one of the comedian's performances. In it, Dolgopolov made statements that "humiliate the honor and dignity of veterans of the Great Patriotic War." Also, the supervisory authority stressed that his words were aimed at "belittling the significance of the feat" of the defenders of the country and were dictated by motives of obvious disrespect for their memory.
Earlier, Dolgopolov admitted that after moving to Europe, he spends all his money on housing and taxes, so he lost a lot of weight.
As EADaily reported, in April 2023, Dolgopolov and his colleague Garik Oganisyan, at a concert in Berlin, played the roles of a terrorist attack in St. Petersburg, which led to the death of military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky. Oganisyan acted as a military correspondent accepting a gift, and Dolgopolov as the giver of a figurine with an explosive device Daria Trepova ❶.
At the same time, the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, instructed to check and evaluate the actions of the comedians.
