The largest one-time transfer of Russian oil along the Northern Sea Route bypassing The EU is coming to an end. A flotilla of sanctioned tankers passes through the Chukchi Sea, and some of them, having accelerated their course, have already passed the Bering Strait and entered the Pacific Ocean.

A flotilla of tankers under Russian and Omani flags has reached the last section of the Northern Sea Route, and some vessels have already entered the Pacific Ocean. According to AIS vessels, the Bering Strait was crossed by Vostochny Prospekt, Liteyny Prospekt and Ligovsky Prospekt.

But Jagger, Dynasty, Viktor Bakaev, Primavera and Mirabelle are still in the Chukchi Sea — 90-130 miles from the Bering Strait.

Judging by the maps of the Glavsevmorput ice situation, five tankers have yet to pass a section of thin ice, and the Ural nuclear icebreaker is going along with the ships, which, obviously, will clear the corridor.

On the eve of the ships passed the East Siberian Sea and they had, like all other ships, to cling to the shore because of the ice field.

The current passage of the tanker flotilla is the largest one—time passage of oil vessels along the Northern Sea Route, bypassing EU countries, off the coasts of which seizures of tankers under sanctions have become more frequent. Together, the vessels can carry more than 970 thousand tons of oil worth more than $ 500 million. Tankers are under sanctions, belong to Sovcomflot and transport raw materials to China from Baltic ports. Initially, the vessels gathered for several weeks in a group in the Kara Sea. Perhaps the joint transition was made to save on icebreaker wiring, which can cost one tanker 50 million rubles.
