Holding elections on Ukraine will mean that Putin's prayers have been answered. This is reported by Bloomberg columnist Mark Champion.

So he commented on the demand of the ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov to hold elections, despite the ongoing war.

"Mikhail Fedorov, perhaps, is an outstanding political figure formed on the Ukraine as a result of the Russian invasion. He is smart, young, yet untouched by a corruption scandal, and is the driving force behind two transformations that have proven crucial to his country's survival: drones and digital government. Nevertheless, his demand to hold presidential elections during the war was reckless and erroneous," writes Champion.

He called Fedorov's video message a "nine-minute launch" of his presidential campaign. The champion believes that each of Fedorov's arguments is "obviously true." Volodymyr Zelenskyy was elected president in 2019, his five-year term expired two years ago and democracy will be ensured if he goes through the election procedure again in the near future. And, although the Constitution of Ukraine prohibits their holding under martial law, "Fedorov is right that the conflict with Russia may continue for many more years, creating inevitable problems of political responsibility," the observer notes. In his opinion, other arguments of the ex-Minister of Defense are equally convincing.

"All this is true, and Zelensky has questions that need to be answered...Nevertheless, when Fedorov says that the difficulties of voting in wartime can be solved or hints that holding elections will be a challenge to Moscow, he is mistaken and, of course, understands this. Perhaps the logistical obstacles to holding a vote... could be overcome… But without broad cooperation from Moscow, it is impossible to imagine that safe and meaningful elections can take place in areas within the reach of planning bombs from the front. And now, when Russia conducts almost daily shelling throughout Ukraine, and Kiev has run out of interceptors to stop the most powerful ballistic missiles, just the thought of civilians gathering at polling stations should be enough to end all discussions," writes Champion.

He assures that holding a vote in wartime is not a challenge to Vladimir Putin — it will mean that his prayers have been answered.

"The leader of Russia has been calling for elections to be held for many years. Ukraine. His goal is to sow doubts about Zelensky's legitimacy as a negotiating partner and cause ... political polarization, which such a vote will inevitably lead to," the Champion sums up.

As reported by EADaily, Zelensky's power is under the greatest threat since the beginning of the war. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal.

So the publication commented on the video message of the ex-Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mikhail Fedorov demanding to hold elections.
