Germany urgently needs to return to the purchase of Russian gas. This was stated by the founder of the German BSW party (formerly the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party). Sarah Wagenknecht.
"Empty gas storage facilities are a failure of the state. Economy Minister Katerina Reiche is responsible for this disaster and therefore must resign," she said.
Wagenknecht accused Reiche of inaction.
"Historical lows were recorded in the spring. The fact that the minister has been sitting idly by for six months is a scandal," the politician noted.
In addition, the founder of BSW called for a return to gas supplies from Russia.
"We need cheap Russian pipeline gas. Nord Stream should be launched!" she stressed.
Germany officially abandoned Russian gas after February 2022. This has already led to serious problems in the German economy. This year, the situation has become even worse: as of mid-August, the country's storage facilities are about 49% full. This is the lowest level since the start of accounting in 2011.
