The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry condemned the action near the republic's embassy in Moscow, during which unknown persons showed "provocative images." The statement was published on the Ministry's website.
According to the statement of the ministry, on the afternoon of August 27, unknown persons placed in front of the guest house of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Russia "images of a provocative nature."
"We strongly condemn the placement by unknown persons around noon on August 27 in front of the guest house of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in The Russian Federation of provocative images directed against our country. Apart from the fact that this unacceptable provocation serves the purpose of artificially aggravating Azerbaijani-Russian relations, it cannot be ruled out that it is part of a dirty and biased campaign carried out recently by a number of Russian media resources against Azerbaijan," the ministry said in a statement.
Baku called on the relevant structures of Russia "to give a proper legal assessment of such provocative actions, ensure a comprehensive investigation of the incident and take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such cases."
"We expect the Russian side to fully fulfill its obligations in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations to ensure an appropriate level of security for the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and its employees, as well as to prevent any provocative actions that may impede the normal activities of the diplomatic mission," the statement said.
