In a number of rivers flowing in the Tyumen region, fish have almost completely disappeared. Fish stocks are completely lost in the rivers Tour and Tobol, partly in Irtysh, Tavda and Iseti.
This was reported on Thursday, August 27 by the TASS news agency, referring to a statement by Elena Panova, chief of staff of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection.
"Representatives of the fisheries and the Russian Academy of Sciences have finally dispelled all hopes. On Tour and In Tobol, the fish is completely lost, partially in Irtysh, Tavde, Iseti. The same goes with the feed base, 95% of which is gone," the parliamentarian said.
According to her, "weed" species of fish may appear in the affected rivers only after 2-4 years, sterlet — after 6 years, and nelma — after 8-10 years.
The statement also emphasizes that although Rosrybolovstvo has a comprehensive program for the restoration of valuable fish species, however, the Tour has not yet been included in it.
"Without help, the affected rivers will fill themselves up for a very long time," Panova concluded.
According to experts, the cause of the mass death of fish in the reservoirs of Tyumen, in particular in the river Tour, was an acute shortage of dissolved oxygen. This was influenced by heavy rains, which provoked a flood.
