Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov commented on the meeting in the Kremlin of President Vladimir Putin with special envoys of US President Donald Trump Steve Witkoff and By Jared Kushner.
"Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner promised to use the observations and assessments received from the Russian president regarding reaching a sustainable peaceful settlement during contacts in Kiev," Ushakov said.
He also said that during the meeting the real successes of the Russian army in advancing in the combat zone were noted, confidence was expressed in achieving the goals set.
"The need to eliminate all the root causes of the conflict was emphasized. The intention has been confirmed to continue working together with the Americans to find political and diplomatic solutions," Ushakov said.
According to him, Putin drew attention to the fact that the Kiev regime has stopped hiding its essence, having engaged in the reburial of some of the most important Nazi criminals, and "this moment is taken note of by the Americans."
"American representatives have seriously prepared for the trip. They expressed their traditional interest in the speedy end of hostilities. A number of considerations have been formulated on possible ways of settlement," Ushakov said.
The negotiations were recognized as timely and very useful for both sides. It was confirmed that the presidents of the two countries will continue personal contacts. Work on the line of Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner's campaign will also be continued, the Russian presidential aide concluded.
Meanwhile, Axios writes that an official of the US Treasury responsible for sanctions policy participated in the negotiations between Witkoff and Kushner in Moscow. According to the publication, Gene Lang attended a meeting with the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation Kirill Dmitriev, but did not participate in negotiations with Putin.
Axios believes that the participation of a representative of the Ministry of Finance indicates a discussion of US sanctions against Russia. A White House spokesman told the publication that officials of the National Security Council, the State Department and the US Treasury Department also participated in the meetings in Moscow.
"The parties discussed specific plans for further actions, which will be announced in the coming weeks, and look forward to equally productive meetings to be held at Ukraine," he said.
