If Finnish President Alexander Stubb repeats the pan-European position on Ukraine, it is unlikely that this will be a constructive contribution to the settlement. This was stated by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov, commenting on Stubb's participation in the Oslo talks between Vladimir Zelensky and special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff.
"We will see how much constructive contribution Mr. Stubb can make to this. If he can make a constructive contribution, then this can be assessed positively. If not, if he can only repeat the common European position, then it is unlikely that this can be a constructive contribution," the Kremlin spokesman said.
As reported by EADaily, Witkoff arrived today in St. Petersburg for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin from Norway, where he met with Vladimir Zelensky. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Witkoff's meeting with Zelensky was positive and that Witkoff would share its results with Russia.
Russian Presidential Aide for Foreign Affairs Yuri Ushakov said earlier today that "negotiations on the Ukrainian conflict, of course, are the main part of today's contact."
Zelensky yesterday made the statement that the United States and Ukraine and Norway have agreed on a number of proposals to end the conflict on Ukraine, including security guarantees to Kiev.
