Advisor to the President of Russia, Chairman of the Council for the Implementation of state Policy in the field of support of the Russian language and the languages of the Peoples of Russia, head of the Supervisory Board of the Russian World Foundation Elena Yampolskaya commented on new words that fall into the Russian language, but not always in official dictionaries. According to TASS, we are talking, in particular, about the word "air".

According to Yampolskaya, "air" has Russian roots, but it is unlikely to get into the normative dictionary.

"I doubt that the words "niche", "air" and so on can get into the normative dictionaries of the Russian language. The word "air" is probably closest to me, because it is Russian both in origin and in the way of education," the expert believes.

EADaily reminds that with modern Internet slang, "air" is a characteristic of a person who talks a lot but does nothing. The word is formed from "air" and echoes the expression "throwing words to the wind."
