Russia is interested in the full normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said during his visit to Armenia.
He noted that Moscow considers the complex of trilateral agreements between the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan as a solid basis for settlement.
"You can always count on our support — both in matters of unblocking communications, as well as in delineating the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and solving humanitarian problems, taking into account the interests of all parties," Lavrov said.
Responding to the Armenian journalist's claim that Azerbaijan seized Karabakh with the help of Russian weapons, Lavrov recalled that Armenia also used Russian weapons when it seized seven districts of Karabakh, which it had not previously claimed.
"As for the fact that Azerbaijan used Russian weapons, let me remind you that Armenia used Russian weapons for almost all the years after gaining independence, including, at one time, for the seizure of seven districts that it never officially claimed. By the way, none of the first leaders of Armenia has ever offered to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh as an independent entity. But Russian weapons were used, as I have already said, to capture seven indisputable Azerbaijani districts and to build fortifications and battle lines, which showed that the calculation was for a very long retention of these territories. And some analysts said that the nature of these fortifications suggests that they did not plan to transfer them back to Azerbaijan at all... Yes, we have Russian weapons in Africa, there is a Kalashnikov assault rifle on the flag of Mozambique. We have our weapons in many countries, this does not mean that everywhere these weapons are used for purposes that would meet the principles that suit everyone," Lavrov quotes the telegram channel "You listened to the lighthouse."
