The Muftiate of Dagestan stated that there can be no justification for the attack on doctors and considers its participation "in the reconciliation of the parties" impossible.

"In connection with the appeal received by the reconciliation department under the Muftiate of the Republic of Dagestan concerning the possibility of reconciliation of the parties in the recent high-profile incident with the attack on medical workers, we consider it necessary to indicate our position ... We are talking about people whose profession is directly related to saving human lives ... Our position is expressed in the fact that any actions aimed at causing harm to medical staff, especially serious harm to their health, cannot be justified. Regardless of the circumstances, including the possible condition of the person who committed the attack, such acts are unacceptable and deserve unequivocal condemnation. An additional aggravating circumstance in this case is the information that the person who committed the crime was under the influence of narcotic substances, which indicates an increased public danger of what happened," the muftiate said in a statement.

At the same time, the muftiate added, "if anyone has complaints about the actions of doctors, even if they are perceived as illegal or unprofessional, such situations should be resolved exclusively in the legal field." To do this, there are competent authorities and higher authorities designed to objectively understand the circumstances and give a proper assessment. Unauthorized actions and attempts at "lynching" are unacceptable and only aggravate the situation, leading to serious consequences, the department stressed.

The statement was signed by the head of the Reconciliation department at the Muftiate of the Republic of Dagestan Abdulla Yaikbaev.

EADaily reported that a resident of Dagestan with a knife broke into the hospital reception and attacked doctors in Makhachkala.

"The attacker wounded doctors in Makhachkala because they could not save his mother after an accident. She died through no fault of the doctors, but her son came to the hospital with a knife. He injured two young doctors at the A.V. Vishnevsky Hospital — a traumatologist and a surgeon. Both have stab wounds. The surgeon cut his face from the mouth to the carotid artery, he was operated on. The traumatologist's condition is of moderate severity. Doctors tried to resist, patients also helped to detain the attacker. The attacker was caught when he tried to run out of the hospital," Mash gives details.

According to the public, the attacker is 32 years old. He ran for deputy of the municipal district "village of Tlyarata" in 2020, but his candidacy was not registered.
