The fifth-generation multirole fighter Su-57, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, is currently the best in its class. The Russian leader said this during a meeting with the heads of international news agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The Head of State recalled that Russia had previously offered India a joint development of this aircraft.

"As for the Su-57, we once offered our friends from India to develop this machine together. This is a fifth-generation car. I think it's the best in the world today," Channel Five quoted Putin as saying.

According to the president, in the future, the Su-57 could become a joint development with India, but Russia eventually implemented the program on its own. At the same time, cooperation with India in this area continues. Moscow is open to both supplies and further cooperation without any restrictions, he noted.

Putin also said that the United States is trying to influence India on a number of issues, including cooperation with Russia. According to the Russian leader, such pressure does not bring the expected result. Putin expressed the opinion that the leadership of India pursues an independent policy, based primarily on the national interests of the country.

"But it seems to me that they realized a long time ago that putting pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who heads a state with one and a half billion people, is useless," the president said.

The Head of State also noted that such actions can negatively affect international and bilateral relations, regardless of who the pressure comes from.

Putin stressed that Moscow does not record serious negative consequences for Russian-Indian cooperation. According to him, Russia remains confident in the ability to find solutions with all participants in the international process.

The President added that India remains a reliable partner for Russia, and bilateral relations continue to develop consistently in various areas. According to him, Moscow intends to further strengthen cooperation with New Delhi.
