On January 19, Foreign Minister of Nagorno Karabakh Karen Mirzoyan received Personal Representatives of the OSCE CiO, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk.
As the ministry press office told EAD, the sides discussed a range of issues concerning the situation on the Line of Contact of the Armed Forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan and the monitoring missions conducted by the OSCE CiO PR’s Office.
The sides also discussed the January 14 planned monitoring of the Line of Contact of the Armed Forces of Nagorno Karabakh and Azerbaijan that was “interrupted by a shot from Azerbaijan’s positions.”
As Karen Mirzoyan said, “such gross violation of security guarantees by Azerbaijan is yet another attempt to escalate the situation.”
Mirzoyan and Kasprzyk advocated for maintaining stability along the Line of Contact.
It should be noted that earlier, the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan, in turn, disseminated reports suggesting that “during the monitoring of the Line of Contact of the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, the Armed Forces of Armenia shelled at the positions of Azerbaijan and the OSCE representatives who were monitoring from Azerbaijani positions.” The source reported that Armenia’s Armed Forces again resorted to provocations in the course of the monitoring “that was held on January 14 on the Line of Contact of the Azerbaijani and Armenian troops near the village of Horadiz, Fizouli region.”
