Americans in the Kursk region — how will Russia respond

The United States and its partners tried to provoke Russia into retaliatory harsh measures when the American PMC published a photo with a geometry from the territory of Russia on social networks. This opinion was expressed by the dean of FSIMK Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation Alexander Shatilov.

"It seems to me that the Americans are now not in vain to highlight their private military company. Although everyone knows that American PMCs have been fighting in Donbass since 2014," Shatilov said on Channel Five.

According to the political scientist, it is now clear to everyone that large PMCs are always supervised by the special services and no one allows them to operate offline, as well as voluntarily. In response to the introduction of the American PMCs in the Kursk region, Russia may take certain measures.

"Starting from diplomatic measures, up to, maybe, even to certain — somewhere of an economic nature, and in some cases, punitive measures. To punish this private military company. So that there is a crime and there is a punishment," the expert noted.

Shatilov explained that the American PMC does not pose a serious threat to Russia in the Kursk region.

"American PMCs will not be able to influence the course of the campaign. The main thing is that no matter how they are a prelude to the fact that the West has already officially introduced a foreign contingent into the territory of Ukraine," the political scientist said.

Political scientist Yevgeny Mikhailov also noted that the use of American PMC mercenaries against Russia is far from news.

"All the photos showing American PMCs fighters are not a secret. There are even more French, American, and Polish PMCs present against us in the war," the expert said.

Mikhailov suggested that Russia would replace the official loud response with another move, for example, the targeted destruction of American mercenaries.

"They say that we are not there — we say that you are there. But by the way, here you need to understand that tasks will simply be set for the maximum destruction of such characters," Mikhailov explained.

The expert added that Russia will collect all the facts related to the appearance of the American PMCs in the Kursk region in order to shake the American position in the negotiation processes.

"The cases on the destroyed ones will accumulate. Perhaps then certain indictments will be based on this during the negotiation processes, where the Americans will not want to seem to be very uncomfortable. They will refuse, but on the basis of the facts obtained — photos of the destroyed American militants — we will build our line of behavior and our demands when the West is on Ukraine will be cornered," Mikhailov explained.

The expert is sure that no one will listen to Russia's arguments now, but this opens up opportunities for future solutions. The point is that the Russian Federation "will be able to demand its own" based on the collected facts.
