Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu explained why the attack on Iran was carried out today, June 13.
"I have set a specific date. It was a necessity. We have created a system capable of striking at the nuclear infrastructure. Initially, the operation was scheduled for the end of April 2025, but for a number of reasons it had to be postponed. Later, we set a new date and carried out the operation with high accuracy and complete success, with the participation of defense and intelligence agencies. We have achieved our goal. It wasn't a spontaneous reaction. Everything was thought out and planned in advance," Netanyahu said.
According to him, Israel has been preparing for today's operation for several months.
"It was a thoughtful preparation. I confirm: back in mid-November 2024, I gave the order to begin preparations for a strike on Iran's nuclear infrastructure. Everything happened in a short time. It was about preparing for the elimination of the Iranian nuclear program. It was clear not only to us, but also to the allies and those who participated in the operation. The strike on the Iranian nuclear program had devastating consequences for Tehran. This program was the basis for the destruction of Israel — it was for this purpose that it was created. We sought to understand this through consistent actions and a clear strategy — and it worked," the Israeli prime minister said.
