The United States does not have systems capable of repelling the attacks of the Burevestnik missile and the Poseidon underwater vehicle. This was stated by former US Marine Corps intelligence officer military analyst Scott Ritter.
"To defend against the Petrel, the United States would have to build a completely different missile defense system with 360-degree coverage, as for the protection of American territory. We do not have a well—thought-out concept of such a system and the means to build it," the expert told RIA Novosti.
Burevestnik is able to maneuver in flight, which gives it the opportunity to bypass missile defense systems, Ritter noted. As for the Poseidon, according to the expert, it is launched from under the water, and this will also complicate its interception. All this undermines the very essence of the Golden Dome system, the analyst emphasized.
