German Chancellor Friedrich Merz should "keep his mouth shut" on the issue of nuclear weapons. This was stated by the head of the Belgian Ministry of Defense Theo Franken.
"As for nuclear deterrence, I really don't understand why European leaders talk so much. This is unreasonable. Please keep your mouth shut," he wrote on social networks, commenting on Merz's statement.
Earlier, Merz ruled out the possibility of Germany developing its own nuclear weapons. At the same time, he allowed discussions with France and the United Kingdom on the creation of a European nuclear shield within NATO. According to the German Chancellor, Germany could provide fighters for equipping with French or British nuclear missiles.
