The Kremlin did not think about a complete break in relations with Germany, but Berlin has a different logic. This was announced today, September 8, by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.

He was asked at a briefing about the risks of a complete rupture of diplomatic relations with Germany.

"So far, it doesn't seem to have occurred to anyone. I repeat once again, we have never been supporters of curtailing relations. How far can they go ... the German leadership can go, even I wouldn't predict something here now," Peskov said.

As reported by EADaily, on September 1, German Foreign Minister Johann Vadeful said that Germany would close the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and terminate the agreement concerning the activities of the Russian House in Berlin. Prior to that, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt accused the Russian Federation of involvement in the incident with the drone at Leipzig airport without proof.

After that, the Russian Foreign Ministry officially announced that the German Goethe cultural centers should cease their activities in Russia. The same applies to the Consulate General of Germany in St. Petersburg.
