In the coming months, the conflict between Washington and Tehran will move into a different phase, according to US Vice President Jay Dee Vance.

" We can't predict the future, but I think the president is right when he says that the situation will move into a completely different phase in a couple of months, " Vance said in an interview with The New York Post.

He explained that there are two phases of the development of the conflict, and "the first one has been completed".

" The first phase was to destroy (Iran's) nuclear program, destroy their conventional armed forces, destroy their ability to project their power in the way they could do just a couple of years ago, " said Vance.

The essence of the second phase, according to the vice president, is to " preserve as much global stability as possible " and prevent Iran from recovering.

Vance stressed that only US President Donald Trump, as commander-in-chief, " determines when conflicts begin and when they end ". The vice president also said that at the moment the United States is " not involved in aggressive operations ".
