US Permanent Representative to NATO: They are not ready

The United States has a wider range of priorities than its NATO allies, as Washington has come to the conclusion that the alliance is prepared for new challenges worse than it should be, said US Permanent Representative to NATO Matthew Whitaker.

" We just have a broader view. Ultimately, I think it's all about the level of ambition", he said at a forum in Iowa, answering a question about whether the priorities of the United States coincide with the goals of NATO.

The Permanent Representative explained this by the fact that hybrid wars are now coming to the fore, the success of which depends on a developed infrastructure and new technologies, including artificial intelligence.

" I think we realized the fundamental need for more combat—ready allies... you know, in fact, we were not prepared as well as we should have been, " Whitaker said.

He explained that the United States had been deceiving itself for a long time, believing that it would be able to wage a global war on two fronts. According to him, the current US administration has formed a more realistic view of foreign policy and a demonstration of force.
