Moscow is ready to negotiate with Ukraine, and with Europe, but the fighting will stop only with a result that suits the Russian side. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
"We are ready to negotiate with Ukraine, and with Europe, with any representatives who would like to help achieve peace in good faith, but we will stop fighting only when these negotiations give a firm and sustainable result that suits the Russian Federation," the minister said.
The Russian Foreign Minister also drew attention to the fact that there is more realism in the position of many countries regarding the situation around Ukraine.
"We have considered in detail a number of international and regional stories, including those processes that are currently going on around the situation on the Ukraine. We do not change our position and note only with satisfaction that there is more realism, much more realism in the position of many countries that understand that without a long-term, sustainable agreement that would eliminate the root causes of this situation, it will be impossible to agree on anything."
Lavrov also said that he "generally" believes that "the contact [in Ankara] was very useful."
"We will continue to work in Ankara, and I am sure that this meeting will make a useful contribution to the development of multifaceted cooperation between Russia and Turkey," he added, quoted by TASS.
As EADaily reported, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks with the head of the Kiev regime, Vladimir Zelensky, to resolve the situation on To Ukraine on February 18 — the same day when the first official Russian-American high-level talks were held in Riyadh since the beginning of the SMO Ukraine.
