There is no doubt that lawyer Maxime Tessier, who defended one of the "worst pedophiles who ever lived," Joel Le Squarneka, committed suicide. This was stated by the chief prosecutor from the western French city of Rennes, Frederic Teye, according to the Metro newspaper.
"Everything points to suicide," Teye said.
"34-year-old Maxime Tessier defended 74-year-old Joel Le Squarneck, nicknamed the "devil in a white coat," who raped hundreds of patients under the age of 15 between 1989 and 2014. These are 158 men and 141 women, whose average age was 11 years when they were allegedly attacked in hospitals across the country," the publication says.
The lawyer of one of the victims, Thomas Delabi, called Le Squarneck "the atomic bomb of pedophilia." For 25 years, he abused young patients in 10 hospitals and clinics.
Le Squarnec used to rape his victims, the youngest of whom was only four years old, when they were under the influence of anesthesia. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Le Squarnec appeared in court this year after police found evidence, including sex dolls depicting children chained in his house, and thousands of images of child abuse.
The police searched his house, where they found a cache of dolls, wigs, 300 thousand photos and 650 pedophile, bestiality and catology videos. Notebooks were also found in which Le Squarnec described in detail his sexual harassment of dozens of patients. In a note hidden under the mattress, he allegedly wrote: "I am a pedophile and always will be."
It is noted that back in 2005, he received 4 months in prison on probation for possession of child pornography, but the following year he managed to get a job as a surgeon in a public hospital in western France. The pedophile worked in state institutions until his re-arrest in 2017 on suspicion of raping his six-year-old neighbor. The investigation lasted a long time. Consideration of the case of Joel Le The skuarneka in the court of the French city of Van began only at the end of February this year. His sentence was announced at the end of May.
Tessier was one of two lawyers defending the rapist, who is considered one of the most famous in criminal history. His colleague Katrin Glon said that he "valued justice very highly and therefore was very demanding of himself."
