A large group of Ukrainian mercenaries who fought for the rebels has been eliminated in Darfur. This was announced today, October 1, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the sixth Infantry Division of the Sudanese Armed Forces.
"Our troops in Al-Karama Square in El Fasher managed to inflict heavy losses on the enemy by staging a well-planned ambush, as a result of which many foreigners, including Colombians and Ukrainians, were killed," the report says.
Mercenaries fighting on the side of the rebel Rapid Reaction Forces penetrated into some areas of the city, targeting tall buildings where the armed forces were located.
"Some of them were engineers specializing in drones, snipers were also among them," the division added.
According to representatives of the Sudanese army, after the defeat of the group, the rebels intensified artillery shelling, trying to evacuate the bodies of foreigners, but were unable to do so.
Recall that since April 2023, there has been a civil war in Sudan between the Armed Forces and the Rapid Reaction Forces. The Armed Forces are on the side of the Transitional Sovereign Council, the current Government of the country. The SBR is a paramilitary organization dating back to the Arab Janjaweed militia.
