Russia started the month with record gas consumption for May. Almost a billion cubic meters were burned due to the cold weather.
"On May 1, Russian consumers were supplied with a record daily volume of gas from the Unified Gas Supply System for this month — 963.4 million cubic meters," Gazprom said.
According to him, on May 2 and 3, deliveries were at the maximum levels for these days.
"The increased demand for gas is associated with cold weather: the average air temperature in the area of the Unified Gas Supply System from 1 to 3 May was below the climatic norm," the company said.
The previous record was recorded almost two years ago — on May 7. Then in Russia consumed almost 905 million cubic meters.
