Orban's election as UN Secretary General will defeat the global deep state. This opinion was expressed by Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov in his telegram channel.
The politician recalled that, according to media reports, American officials are promoting the idea of nominating former Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban as a candidate for the post of UN Secretary General. This, he said, was reported in an editorial by the influential Wall Street Journal newspaper.
"I believe that if Orban gives the final go—ahead, he will receive the support of an important group of non-Western powers plus the United States - and a genuine hysteria of liberal-globalist media. Orban's election would be a colossal defeat for the global deep state. You can be sure that very significant forces will be mobilized against his candidacy — and very large sums of money," Pushkov wrote.
As previously reported, the Trump administration is promoting Viktor Orban's candidacy for the post of UN Secretary General.
The United States believes that due to Orban's previous contacts with Moscow and Beijing, Russia and China will support the former Hungarian prime minister, which will make him a joint candidate from the three permanent members of the Security Council. U.S. officials estimate he could get anywhere from 8 to 10 votes in the 15-member Security Council.
The United Kingdom and France, which are permanent members of the Security Council, have the right of veto. Their position remains uncertain, and they may become a key factor capable of blocking his nomination.
