It is necessary to respond decisively to attempts to seize ships. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to TASS.
After listening to the reports of the fleet commanders, the Head of State stressed the importance of careful but decisive actions in attempts to seize Russian vessels. He compared this situation with the fight against piracy, stressing the need for effective measures.
"Konstantin Petrovich (Kabantsov, Commander of the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation — approx. EADaily) and Viktor Nikolaevich (Liina, Commander of the Pacific Fleet — approx. EADaily) also talked about attempts by ill-wishers to influence our fleet, including the commercial fleet. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that in such cases, of course, it is necessary to act carefully within the framework of international maritime law, but decisively, just as it is necessary to fight piracy and pirates. You know, and the minister spoke about it, for sure, both the chief of the General Staff and the relevant commands should have passed from the fleet commander," the president said.
