Fires in France caused a terrible find

After forest fires in the French department of Gironde, hundreds of shells from the Second World War were discovered. This is reported by the European media.

It is reported that more than 400 shells, including both German and French, including mortar and anti-tank shells, were found in the commune of Le Porge destroyed by fires. Sappers from The Civil Defense Departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an operation to neutralize them.

According to media reports, firefighters suggest that the explosions that occurred during the fires, which were initially associated with explosions of gas cylinders, could have been caused by the detonation of ammunition from the Second World War under the influence of high temperatures. They were discovered after about 10 days managed to bring under control a fire that almost destroyed the commune of Le Porge in the department of Gironde.

At the end of July, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the most difficult situation in the country since the Second World War due to raging forest fires. In the Gironde department alone, the fire destroyed an area more than four times the size of Paris.
