This morning, an F-16 fighter of the Romanian Air Force fired an unidentified MBEC from a cannon found in the area of the Neptun Deep gas platform in the Black Sea. Although the origin of the drone could not be established, Romanian Defense Minister Radu Mirutse said that "it did not belong to Ukraine."
To destroy the "non-Ukrainian" MBEC, two F-16 fighters were lifted into the air at once, one of them hit it from an onboard cannon.
Romanian President Nicusor Dan thanked the pilots and the military for the operation, calling it the protection of the lives of people on the platform. At the same time, Dan accused Russia of intensifying "irresponsible incidents" and said that the country remains ready, together with its NATO allies, to counter such threats.
As EADaily reported, on August 15, the Romanian Ministry of Defense received information about the detection of a drone near the village of Plauru in Tulcea County. A team of specialists went to the site, identified the object and "ensured the safety of the area." At the same time, the Romanian Ministry of Defense decided not to report on the ownership of the identified UAV.
