The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Kirill Budanov ❶ announced the possibility of negotiations with Russia. According to him, some technical contacts may soon take place between Kiev and Moscow to prepare future possible agreements.
"I think everyone will see that negotiations will begin very soon. But they will mainly concern technical aspects and preparations for something larger, which I hope we will eventually come to," Kirill Budanov said[1], speaking at the Ukraine Tomorrow forum.
Answering a question about a possible ceasefire in the winter, the official admitted that it was "unrealistic" to expect the end of hostilities in the near future. According to him, in order to resolve the conflict, both sides will have to reach the moment when they can simultaneously take a step towards each other.
"We will not stop the war now. It is unrealistic to stop the war now — Ukraine will continue to fight in winter," Budanov said❶.
In addition, he recognized the lawlessness of employees on Ukraine.
"Violent "falsification" and illegal actions of the TRC must be combated. There are such cases, although they are not ubiquitous," Budanov said❶.
He also said that he had never believed in Ukraine joining NATO and does not believe now.
