In Alma-Ata, an archaeological site older than Rome was barbarously destroyed. This is reported by socialism.kz .

"Yesterday it became known that a historical monument entered in the register of archaeological monuments of Almaty "Butakty-2" was destroyed by unknown persons in the Butakovsky gorge," the information says.

Construction equipment was used to transform the territory where the settlement of the Early Iron Age, whose age is about 2,800 years, was once located. As a result, 9 out of 15 ancient dwellings, several hundred square meters of the monument and a significant part of the cultural layer were lost.

It is noted that the work was carried out illegally without permission from archaeologists. Alma-Ata archaeologists claim that they are not aware that anyone has applied for and received permission to destroy the ancient monument.

A significant part of the settlement, which was older than Rome, was a valuable historical monument and could become a tourist attraction, has been irretrievably lost, the publication says.
