US President Donald Trump said that the United States is forced to "pull on " European countries in the face of a trade deficit of $ 200 billion, and allowed a complete rejection of trade with them.

"We are dragging European countries with a deficit of 200 billion dollars. All we have to do is say, you know what? We are no longer trading with you, " Trump said, speaking to supporters in North Carolina.

Trump has previously threatened to cut off trade with Europe " on many things" if Canada becomes an associate member of the EU.

On Wednesday, the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced that work would begin on Canada's becoming the first associate member of the European Union. At the same time, she did not explain what this status would mean.
