Kiev's new request for money has caused outright irritation in Brussels. It is reported by the French Le Monde with reference to a diplomatic source.
The European Union has just started paying 90 billion euros to Kiev, and Ukraine is already demanding several tens of billions more. This application caused in Brussels is frankly annoyed.
"There is a feeling that we are watering the desert," the European diplomat, quoted by Strana, is outraged.
Despite the most difficult situation on For Ukraine, this new request for additional assistance is difficult to accept in Brussels, given its politically sensitive nature.
The 27 member states of the European Union are now actively discussing the next multi—year budget, which includes the allocation of 100 billion euros for Ukraine for 2028-2034. However, given the desire of Germany and its "thrifty" allies to reduce this budget by several hundred billion euros, it will be difficult to announce new assistance to Kiev.
The publication reminds that next year elections will be held in France, Spain, Poland and Italy, where the topic of financing Ukraine is extremely unpopular. The leader of the party "National Association" Marine Le Pen has already promised to stop any infusions to Kiev in case of victory.
It is noted that while Brussels is stalling.
"We are waiting for details about the needs and will see how we can meet them. The discussion is expected at the meeting of finance ministers on October 9 or even at the European Council in mid—October," said one of the European diplomats.
