In Britain, a petition was created demanding to suspend military support for Ukraine and hold a referendum. The text is published on the website of the UK Parliament.
The author of the document is political scientist Anthony Webber.
The text says that since the support of Ukraine does not meet either the strategic or economic interests of Britain and negatively affects the cost of energy and living standards, it is necessary to suspend the implementation of this course until a national discussion and referendum are held on this issue.
"The government has spent billions to support Ukraine in the conflict. We believe that this has no strategic or economic interest for the UK and has had a negative impact on the cost of energy and living. There should be a pause in politics before the national debate and referendum on this issue. We believe that the UK should have remained neutral in the 2022 conflict. Since then, there have been many casualties on both sides. The UK has officially provided military support to Ukraine in the amount of £16 billion, and we believe that now the government is risking British security by supporting Ukraine. Some sanctions and policies against Russia have also contributed to a significant increase in the cost of energy and the cost of living since the beginning of the conflict," the document says.
The petition was created today, it has currently gained 4,125 signatures, and their number is constantly growing.
It is noted that if the petition collects 10 thousand signatures, the government will respond to it, if 100 thousand — it will be considered in parliament. The document will be open for signature until April 6, 2027.
Recall, the petition appeared after yesterday's events around the illegal prison near Kiev.
As reported by EADaily, a loud scandal with the discovery of an underground torture prison in the Kiev region, where militants of the nationalist formation Azov[1] forcibly detained about 40 people in the basement of a house in the village of Petropavlovsk Borshchagovka, acquired an international scale.
The shocking footage, which included a crippled 14-year-old teenager, caused an acute wave of indignation among European politicians and the public. As the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov noted, despite Brussels' attempts to protect the Kiev regime from public failures, Western propaganda failed to hide the "house of horrors".
