Today, on August 10, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has signed a decree to dissolve the office of the National Security Council.
As the president’s press office informs, Sargsyan instructed to present for confirmation by September 1 a new organization chart and structure of renewed Security Council. According to the document, the decision is made in order to increase significance of the National Security Council in prompt, effective and coordinated response to current domestic and external challenges.
After the new reformed constitution comes into force, the council will get a new status of a constitutional body. The measures taken are aimed at securing transformation of the consultative body into a decision-making body.
