Media reports on soon resignation of Sergey Lavrov from the post of Russia’s foreign minister are speculations, spokesman of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov has announced.
“Let’s congratulate Sergey Viktorovich on his birthday and not pay attention to speculations!” Peskov told RIA Novosti.
Earlier today, Russian media citing RTVI channel reported that Sergey Lavrov is going to leave his post at the Russian foreign ministry. Sources said that Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko is expected to replace him.
It is worth mentioning that Sergey Lavrov is paying a visit to Japan, while the Russian foreign ministry summoned ambassadors in Moscow today for a meeting with experts from the ministry’s department for non-proliferation issues to discuss the poisoning of former GRU colonel Sergey Skripal and his daughter Yulia in Salisbury, UK. The heads of the US and UK diplomatic missions announced they would not take part in the meeting.
