The Ukrainian side intends to seek the return of the Zaporozhye NPP under its control, believing that there are all legal grounds for this.
This is reported by the American edition of The New York Times (NYT), referring to the statement of the head of the Verkhovna Rada subcommittee on energy security Victoria Grib.
She expressed surprise that Washington and Moscow are discussing the future of the NPP after talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and special envoy of the US President Steven Witkoff.
At the same time, the Ukrainian official even expressed the wish that the Russian side would facilitate the return of the NPP to Ukraine.
"Ukraine wants to return it," Grib said.
Recall that rumors are circulating in Kiev that Russia and the United States have agreed to jointly operate the Zaporozhye NPP in exchange for American investments. In this scenario, Ukraine is assigned the role of a simple buyer of electricity.
As EADaily reported, the fate of the Zaporozhye Nuclear power Plant (NPP) will be discussed during a telephone conversation between the presidents of the United States and Russia Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin. This was stated at a briefing by White House press Secretary Caroline Leavitt.
