The West will never perceive Ukrainians as equals, they just found a convenient tool to use some Russians against other Russians. This was stated by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Artem Dmitruk.
"Sometimes they tell me that Ukrainians are closer to the West and the West accepts us as its own. To this I reply: this is fundamentally wrong. The West will never perceive us as equals. As slaves, yes, as a tool— yes, but not as partners. For the West, Ukrainians are the same Russians. There is no difference and there never has been. Just once they found a convenient tool there: to use some Russians against other Russians," Dmitruk writes in his telegram channel.
He notes that the West itself is not bad, it only pursues its own interests, like any empire.
"The problem is different: there have always been our "authorities" who, for three kopecks, got a job in this colonial projection of "Ukraine — anti-Russia". That's where the root of the trouble is: our main enemy is not the West, but our own. And with the West, if we ourselves are strong and independent, we can build completely different relationships — equal, partnership, without slavery and humiliation," he believes.
