The telephone conversation between the Presidents of Belarus and France Alexander Lukashenko and Emmanuel Macron took place on the initiative of the French side. This was reported by the press service of the Belarusian leader on May 24.
It is reported that "the heads of state discussed regional problems and relations between Belarus and the EU and France in particular."
Recall that France is one of the active initiators of sanctions pressure on Russia and Belarus. At the same time, Macron had previously shown no desire to negotiate with Lukashenko and spoke with him on February 26, 2022. Before the conversation with the Belarusian leader, the French president phoned Vladimir Zelensky after the Russian retaliation strike.
