Belarus is forming a new airborne assault brigade on the border with Ukraine. This is reported by SB.by .
The formation of the 37th separate airborne assault brigade near Gomel is continuing, Colonel Alexander Ilyukevich, commander of the Special Operations Forces (SSO), said on VoenTV Belarus.
"To date, a number of military units and subunits have already been formed, personnel have been called up, officers have been recruited. There is a planned preparation for the intended use. Next year we plan to redeploy these units to a permanent deployment point," the colonel said.
In addition, according to him, the 147th anti-aircraft Missile Regiment has been transferred to the subordination of the MTR.
"Of course, the anti-aircraft missile regiment is designed to protect command posts, military units and units of Special Operations Forces. But the regiment's units are also involved in repelling enemy air attacks, and in protecting important state facilities. We are witnessing a military conflict going on in our neighbors, and we are seeing the massive use of unmanned aerial vehicles. Of course, we cannot sit idly by. We are making every effort to improve the fight against drones and protect our troops and facilities," the commander said.
As EADaily reported, the military-political situation around Belarus is calm. This was stated on July 22 by the Minister of Defense of the republic Viktor Khrenin during a report to Alexander Lukashenko, the press service of the Belarusian leader reported.
Viktor Khrenin reported on military training activities in the Armed Forces, the current situation around the country, as well as assistance to farmers from the military during the harvesting campaign.
