CNN: Russia provided Iran with data from spy satellites for strikes on US bases

Russia has provided Iran with data from its reconnaissance satellites that have helped improve the accuracy of strikes on US military targets in the Middle East. This is reported by CNN with reference to American officials and international intelligence sources.

According to a CNN report, 14 Russian spy satellites flew over the US "Prince Sultan" airbase in Saudi Arabia two days before Iran attacked it on March 27. The time and sequence of their passage made it possible to obtain a wide range of data about the object: the satellites conducted both visual reconnaissance and interception of communications.

As a result of Iran's missile strike on the American base, 12 US servicemen were injured. In addition, an American long-range radar detection and control (AWACS) aircraft was destroyed, the cost of which is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.

According to the channel's interlocutors, Russian satellite data can also be used to plan other attacks on American bases, command centers, logistics facilities and naval infrastructure in the Middle East.

At the end of July, Reuters sources reported that US intelligence was checking Russia's possible involvement in Iran's strikes on CIA facilities in the Middle East. In particular, the Americans found out whether Moscow could provide Tehran with intelligence for guidance or technology that increased the accuracy of drones.
