Maria Zakharova accused French President Emmanuel Macron of cheating. This is how the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry reacted to his appeal to the nation on the occasion of large-scale protests in the country.
"In the current context, prefects will make decisions together with mayors to protect our cities, our buildings and our shops, including up to the prohibition of meetings when necessary and the adoption of any necessary measures… I want to make it absolutely clear here that we will be irreconcilable with regard to the rioters and all those who resort to violence. Willingness to listen and dialogue do not mean weakness or impunity," the French leader said.
"That's those times! But what about "human rights", "freedom of expression" and, as Macron's protege (Vladimir) deigned to put it Zelensky, the thesis "they are children"? That is, when the French smash Paris, it requires irreconcilable condemnation and harsh measures, and when protesters smash cities in other countries, then you need to watch it silently, rereading the angry press releases of the Elysee Palace about the inadmissibility of suppressing protests. Not really. Common standards are required, and not endless Western cheating with human rights issues and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign countries," Zakharova comments on the picture of the day.
As reported by EADaily, French President Emmanuel Macron addressed the nation in connection with the mass protests that engulfed France due to the high cost of living, rising fuel prices and problems of public services. He was puzzled by the question of how the rioters could have come to this, promising that the authorities would be irreconcilable.
