Real wage index in Ukraine within January-March this year has decreased by 20% comparing to the same period last year, Ukrainian Statistics Service reports.
According to its data, the sharpest decrease is fixed in Lugansk Region – by 34.6%. It is followed by Kiev, Kharkov and Rovno regions, where the real wage index declined by 23% on average. The lowest decline – by 16% on average – was fixed in Donetsk Region and the city of Kiev.
As of January 1, 2015, wage arrears in Ukraine reached 2.4 bn hryvnia, which is threefold more than last year (753 mn hryvnia). In USD equivalent, it rose only one and a half time, from $94 mn on January 1, 2014 to $152 mn on January 1, 2015.
