Donetsk is pursuing a policy of overall strengthening of the relations with Russia up to establishing a single military, political, economic, and cultural space with Moscow, the leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic Alexander Zakharchenko has announced at a congress of the Donetsk Republic public movement.
“We are taking the way towards strengthening our independence and having closer ties with sister Russia. We have secured our right for freedom and independence with arms,” he is quoted as saying by the Donetsk News Agency.
Zakharchenko explained that the Ukrainian government is deliberately trying to make aт outlaw region of Donbass sparing no effort for isolating it from the world.
“We will make a union with Russia, a single military, political, economic, and cultural space. Common future with Russia is our firm choice. We shall not walk back,” he concluded.
To remind, this fall, the republic will be electing its leader, Zakharchenko previously said he would propose his candidacy.
