Washington will lose the ability to conduct a dialogue with Moscow if US President Donald Trump introduces new sanctions against Russia. This was stated in an interview with Politico by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
According to him, as soon as the restrictions come into force, it will mean that the window for negotiations with the Russian Federation is most likely closed.
"We will probably lose the opportunity to talk to them about a cease—fire," the publication quotes the head of the foreign ministry.
If US President Donald Trump imposes sanctions, it will practically become an admission that "negotiations on this issue will not take place in the near future," Rubio added.
"We will continue to interact. If we have the opportunity to change the situation and bring them [the parties] to the negotiating table, we will use it," he said, citing excerpts from TASS.
